Wearing your green for St Patricks day? Do you need some good luck charms to help improve your luck? Crafts are an easy way to take care of that!
Knitters can easily make St Patrick's day wristbands. Cast on 10 stitches on US 8 needles with green worsted weight yarn. You can do garter stitch (knit every row) or stockinette stitch (knit a row, purl a row) or any pattern you'd like. Work until it's long enought to fit comfortably around your wrist, bind off, the sew the ends together. Varigated or self striping yarn is fun to work with, watching how the colors come together in the fabric.
Beaded bracelets are fun to make too.
You will need: green yarn/thin ribbon/ or hemp jewlery cord, green beads (regular and ABC if you like), a yarn needle to help thread the beads on, and maybe a charm or two.
Take three strands of your cord, each about 10 inches long, and tie a knot at one end. Anchor that end to make it easier to braid the strands. Braid them together for 2 inches. Once you have 2 inches braided start sringing beads onto your center cord and continue braiding. Add the beads however you like. When you have about 2.5 inches of cord left stop adding beads and return to plain braiding, tying it off at the end.
Once you get a hang of it, experiment with different numbers of cords in the braid and how you add the beads.
You could make a St Patricks day lapel pin pom-pom guy to wear. Wearing him should cover you if you forgot to wear green.
You will need: Green pom-poms, a sheet of green craft foam, googly eyes, glue, a safety pin, and any accessories you want on him like a hat or antennas.
Make sure you choose glue that will hold onto your pom-poms without being messy. You don't want him to fall apart on you!
Cut a 3 inch square from your foam and cut it into a shamrock shape. Attach your safety pin to the back near the top. Attach it so you can use it to pin onto your clothes (non-pointy side glued/taped to shamrock).
Glue your green pom-pom to the center of the front of the shamrock. The googly eyes go onto the top as it is laying on the table. (the top is the front when you wear it.)
Add your accessories and let it dry before wearing. These would be cute to make for a craft fair.
